The Institution named after the great Warrior king of Maharashtra Shri Shivaji Maratha Society was established in 1918 in the auspicious historical city. Pune by great social reformers like Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Khasesaheb Pawar, Keshvraoji Jedhe, Baburaoji Jedhe, Baburaoji Jagtap, Baburaoji Gholap, and Baburaoji Sanas.

The motto of the society is "Upliftment of Masses". The society decided to start training college for secondary school teachers who came from masses; hence Adhyapak Mahavidyalaya was established in 1970 at Aranyeshwar. The college is situated in the midst of nature. The course is run in the palatial building.

In 1970 the society started B.Ed. course affiliated to Pune University with intake of 60 students. Later the intake was increased to 100. The first Principal was Shri B.V.Bapat up to 1977. Now from March 2016 Dr. Bapusaheb Ganpat Chaugule is working as a Principal. The result of the college are always more than 95%. Some of our students came in the Merit list of the University.

In October 2003 college faced NAAC committee and was awarded B+ grade and In 2013 college faced NAAC committee and was awarded B grade. Inspired by grade. the institution tried to develop the college. After two years of hardship N.C.T.E. permitted the college to increase intake capacity from 80 to 100. One new B.Ed. division with intake of 100 students was granted to the college by N.C.T.E.

Number of teaching and non-teaching staff has increased. The college looks blossom by increasing number of students.Many cultural activities are arranged in the college. It helps the students to develop their talents. Our society organizes Teacher's Day, when students and teachers are felicitated, On Shiv Jayanti big procession is organized by the society many competitions are organized in the college to develop the competencies of the students. Students are motivated to take part in inter collegiate as well as in the University

The college is well equipped with various facilities like sports material, science lab and psychology lab. The college has a computer lab with 50 computers in LAN and with internet facility. The college uses all new Techno Pedagogies for teaching learning processes.

College has rich library which is extensively used not only by college students but also by the students of other B. Ed. colleges and university. There are many national and international magazines, journals subscribed for the library. The faculty is very knowledgeable. They work as resource persons for various schools, colleges, university departments & S.S.C. board. The lectures are recognized M.Phil and Ph.D. guides. They give lectures and guidance organized by university, schools, and SSC board.

Quality Improvement Programmes are organized for the development of teacher educators in Pune University. College arranges different awareness programmes such as AIDS awakeners programme. Environment programme, blood donation programme, camps, street plays on themes like dowry systems, women education, cleanliness programme and removal of social barriers like blind faith etc. The college engages different curricular and co- curricular activities for student teachers and teacher educators of the other college. The college has organized "Women empowerment programme" and "National Integration programme" for student teachers. The college organizes workshops and seminars at university and state level for teacher educators on various topics related to education. The college also runs social programmes like "senior citizens workshop" and surveys related to senior citizens. The college has adopted a village - Gandhalwadi near Daund. We run various activities like gram swachhata, adult education, mapping of village, vyasanmukti programme etc. in the village.

We are trying to Start Research Centre in the College for M.Phil. The society is building new building with modern technology for the college. College will be decorated with beautiful garden. Different labs with Modern Technology will be developed e.g. ICT lab and language labs.

We all wish that this college, our college, Adhyapak Mahavidyalaya Should be well known educational complex with quality Modern amenities and high standards with varied courses. Almighty God should grace by fulfilling our wish.
